On the Subject of Beatblock

So you want to block beats? It’s going to take an awful lot of practice.

This module initially contains a big rectangular canvas with an image, a text box, and a Play button.

The text box will contain the information about a certain custom chart in Beatblock. This information includes the name of the song, the song’s artist, and the chart’s charter.

Stage 1

Your goal is to submit the correct background image for the described chart (which can be found in the Chart Table). To do so, press the canvas to cycle through the 8 possible background images and press the Play button once the correct one is selected.

If the correct background image is submitted, the module will progress to its second stage. Otherwise, a strike will be given, and the module will fully reset (a new chart for the textbox and a new set of possible background images will be picked).

Stage 2

The module will transform to show the view of the chart you selected. The chart on the module will be 16 to 18 beats long. Use the slider at the top to view the chart’s beats (which will be displayed in the center of the module).

Every beat will have up to three notes, and potentially an icon (at the bottom of the beat display) indicating the state of the player’s paddle at the current beat:

Regular Paddle (No icon present)	No Paddle	360° Paddle

Your goal is to determine the accuracy the player will get if they play this chart “perfectly”.

To do so, keep track of totals Misses and Full Combo. For every note in the chart, determine how it affects the two totals in the table on the next page.

After processing every note in the chart, calculate the accuracy as follows: (Full Combo - Misses) / Full Combo,
round the result down to two digits after the decimal point.

Input the calculated accuracy by using the the buttons at the bottom of the module (with the “<” acting as a backspace button). Note that your input must contain exactly two digits after the decimal point (this means that, for example, “.60” must be inputted as “.60”, and not “.6”).

To submit the inputted accuracy, press the “Show Results” icon in the bottom-right corner of the module. If the inputted accuracy is correct, the module will solve. Otherwise, a strike will be given (but the module will not reset).

• Holds, Mineholds, and Bounces will have their durations written above them on the module.
• The the starting beat of such a note is the beat the note is first seen on in the chart.
• “Every beat of this note’s duration” includes all beats starting from the note’s starting beat, and ending at the beat [starting beat + duration], inclusive on both sides.
  • E.g. for a Hold with a duration of 4 that starts on beat 4.000, “every beat of this note’s duration” includes beats 4.000 through 8.000 (inclusive).

Block	If the current paddle is “No Paddle”, add 1.	Add 1.
Hold	If the paddle on the starting beat is “No Paddle”, add 2. Otherwise, if the paddle is “No Paddle” on any beat of this note’s duration, add 1.	Add 2.
Side	If the current paddle is “No Paddle” or “360° Paddle”, add 1.	Add 1.
Mine	If the current paddle is “360° Paddle”, add 1.	Add 1. (If there are multiple Mines on the same beat, only one of them counts towards the total)
Minehold	Add 1 for every beat of this note’s duration where the paddle is “360° Paddle”.	Add 1. (If there are multiple Mineholds that end on the same beat, only one of them counts towards the total)
Bounce	Add 1 for every beat of this note’s duration where the paddle is “No Paddle”.	Add (duration + 1).
