On the Subject of Binary Memories

I can’t remember the stages to forget them.

The module has a screen, four buttons and five LEDs. Each button is numbered from 1 to 4 in reading order. The module can be in one of five modes. Use the number of lit LEDs to determine the current mode.

1 lit LED: Reading mode

This is the initial mode of the module. The screen will show the number “1”. Each time another non-ignored module is solved, the number will increase by 1. This number is the stage number. The displayed number can be one of two colors: red or green. This color is the value of the current stage. Memorize the values of each stage.

If the values of four stages in a row match, press any button to enter the “Submit mode”. This must be done before another non-ignored module is solved. Otherwise, you will get a strike and the module will enter the “Ready mode”.

If all the non-ignored modules are solved or stage number equals 45, then the module will enter the “Ready mode”.

2 lit LEDs: Ready mode

The value of the last stage is displayed on the screen. Press any button to enter “Submit mode”.

3 lit LEDs: Submit mode

Using the table below, prioritize the buttons for each stage. To solve the module, press the valid button with the highest priority for each stage. If the button has not been pressed before, then it is valid. Otherwise, the button is valid if the last press was for the stage with the opposite value. If all buttons are invalid, then button “1” is valid. The current stage is displayed on the screen.

If you press the wrong button, you will get a strike and the module will enter “Recovery mode”.

When you press the correct button for each stage, the module will be solved.

4 lit LEDs: Recovery mode

When entering this mode, the screen will show the value of the current stage. When any button is pressed, the screen will show the value of the stage for which this button was successfully pressed the last time. If the button has not yet been successfully pressed, the number on the screen will be colored gray. When the same button is pressed twice in a row, the screen will again show the value of the current stage. When the same button is pressed three times in a row, the module will enter “Submit mode”.

5 lit LEDs: Module is solved. Congratulations!
