On the Subject of Challenged Module Idea

ORDER IN CHAOS. PATTERN IN COLORS. FIND AND ALL BECOME CLEAR.

  • This module consists of a 3×3 grid of colored squares. There are four possible colors.
  • Press all squares in the correct group to progress the module.
  • Pressing a square will cause it to light up white. Make all squares white to disarm the module.
  • To begin, press the color group containing the fewest squares.
  • After the first group, the correct group to press depends on the number of currently white squares pressed and the group pressed in the previous stage.
  • “Group” refers to any of:
    • All squares of a particular color.
    • All non-white squares in the topmost row containing non-white squares.
    • All non-white squares in the leftmost column containing non-white squares.
  • Non-white squares may change color after each stage.
  • The rule determining the next group is different for every instance of the module, and is initially unknown. You will need to determine its configuration through experimentation and deduction.
  • This module never strikes.
