On the Subject of the Mechanical CM

Encrypt Instructions

• Use the Nth letter of the keyword on screen 1 as the row on the Mechanical Table.
• Use the Nth letter of the encrypted word as the column on the Mechanical Table.
• The intersection of the 2 letters will give you the Nth decrypted letter.

Decrypt Instructions

• Use the Nth letter of the keyword on screen 1 as the row on the Mechanical Table.
• Find the Nth letter of the encrypted word within the row of the Mechanical Table.
• The column where you found the letter becomes the Nth letter of your decrypted word.

When you reach the end of the keyword, treat it as if it wraps around to the beginning of the keyword.
