On the Subject of Flame Plate

This Plate is like 10,000°C! Or even 1,000,000°C!! That’s hotter than the Sun!!!1!

The Plate on the module can be pressed in nine different spots, acting like a 9-digit keypad.
An 8-digit passcode must be entered to solve the module.

Use Table MAGMA to get each digit for the passcode.
Start at the marked cell.

Consider the 3rd character in the Serial Number as “x” and the 6th as “y”.

If “x” and “y” are both 0, the passcode is 44444444. Consider yourself lucky!

Apply each of the following 4 Movements in order (looping back to 1 after 4):

  1. Move “x” cells to the right and “y” cells down.
  2. Move “y” cells to the right and “x” cells down.
  3. Move “x” cells to the left and “y” cells up.
  4. Move “y” cells to the left and “x” cells up.

After each Movement, the cell you land on gives you the next digit for the passcode, and is the starting cell for the next Movement.
Also after each Movement, Void a line in the table.

To know which line to Void, apply ALL of the following rules:

  • Get the previously Voided line’s index (or the first digit of the passcode if this is your first Void), multiply it by 4 and add 1.
  • Continuously sum the digits of the number (get its Digital Root).
  • If your Movement moved through an even number of Voided lines, Void a column, otherwise Void a row.

The number you obtained is the index of the line to Void.
Do not Void the line you just landed on, or one that is already Voided; instead Void the next available line in numerical order (looping back to 0).
Keep doing Movements and Voids until you have all 8 digits of the passcode.

Pressing an incorrect digit for the passcode will issue a Strike, but the sequence of correctly entered digits will not be reset.
Press the “FLAME” text on the module’s casing to reset previously entered digits.

Shared Appendix V O I D:

Voided cells are considered to not exist anymore. Cells aligned on either sides are considered adjacent and at a distance of 1. This includes diagonals.

You can move from one side of a Voided cell to another in a single movement. You cannot stop a movement onto a Voided cell.

Neighbors of a Voided Cell are the cells directly adjacent to it (unless one of them is a Voided cell, in which case the neighbors are of course one cell further).
