On the Subject of Lying Buttons

The two door problem in the form of buttons.

  • There are 9 circular buttons colored in either red, yellow, or blue. Some of them are lying while others are telling the truth.
  • Above each button is a rectangluar screen that displays what the button is saying.
  • To the right of each button is a togglable square button that cycles between 1 - 5 and O/X. These square buttons are meant to be used to take notes and aren’t used to disarm the module.
  • To disarm the module, press all the buttons that are telling the truth.
  • Pressing a button that is lying will result in a strike and generate a new puzzle.

Liars

  • The number of liars is determined by the presence of the module clamps in the corners.
  • If the clamps in the top left are present, then there is exactly 1 liar.
  • If the clamps in the top right are present, then there are exactly 2 liars.
  • If the clamps in the bottom left are present, then there are exactly 3 liars.
  • If the clamps in the bottom right are present, then there are exactly 4 liars.
  • Note: Multiple clamps can be present at those positions indicating that there might be X liars or Y liars.
