On the Subject of Mistranslated Venting Gas
This task is performed by someone who is multingual... usually.
Note: If the left key on the monitor is a “Y” OR the “diode” is on the right side of the monitor, you are looking at the wrong manual.A “Mistranslated Venting Gas” module has a monitor with two buttons, both with a different letter. There’s a diode on the left side of the monitor.
Respond to the computer prompts by pressing the rightmost button for Yes or the leftmost button for No.
Only use this manual if the language settings of your monitor have been corrupted. This means that the functions of the two buttons could have possibly been swtiched.
Determining the Buttons’ Functions
There are three different types of translated phrases. The promt (“Vent Gas?/Detonate?”), the options (“Y/N”), and the button labels (“N” and “Y”).
Use the translated phrases in the tables below to determine whether the Yes and No buttons have been “Switched” or are “Normal”.
- “Normal” means both buttons function exactly as labeled.
- “Switched” means pressing the Yes button means No and vice versa.
If you need a translation of any word, use Table TRN5.

- If a cell in Table B says “Change”, change the answer you received from the above table from “Switched” to “Normal” and vice versa.
- This is final. Now that the functions of both buttons have been determined, continue answering prompts as normal.
- These settings will not change while defusing the bomb.
