On the Subject of Not Piano Keys

We should really stop dropping modules down mine shafts.

There will be a layout of white and black keys with three musical symbols on the top. The keys are separated into 7 white and 5 black keys. Note that the larger group of black keys is to the left of the smaller group.

Obtaining the Black Key Sequence

• Take the musical symbols on the module and use them in the below tables from top to bottom to obtain a sequence of 3 distinct keys, referred to by their position from left to right.
• If the serial number contains a 0 or 5, add the remaining two keys from right to left. Otherwise add them from left to right.

Obtaining the White Key Sequence

• Take a sequence of the numbers from 1 to 7. These represent the white keys from left to right. Based on the three symbols shown, perform 4 swaps on this sequence.
• The first symbol on the module corresponds to a 2×2 quadrant of a 3×3 grid, as depicted to the right.
• Find the intersection of the 2nd and 3rd symbols on the below page to get a cell within a 3×3 grid. The intersection will always be within the quadrant specified by the first symbol. Take the 4 pairs of numbers within that quadrant and order them in clockwise order starting with the intersection.
• For each pair of numbers, swap the numbers in those positions in the sequence.

Interweaving the Sequences

• Once the black and white sequences have been obtained, they need to be ordered.
• Use the order according to the last digit of the bomb’s serial number and press the keys in that order.
  • B# represents the #th key of the black sequence.
  • W# represents the #th key of the white sequence.
