On the Subject of Piece Positioning

...then takes, takes and takes... ~Hikaru Nakamura, chess grandmaster

On the module there is a small hexagonally tiled board and a box with circular pieces in it, whose lid has a sequence of colours on the inside. To solve the module, set up the pieces in such a way that a valid sequence of captures can be played until only one piece remains.

Capturing pieces follows the rules below:

  • The capturing piece jumps over a piece to capture it. The capturing piece must land on an unoccupied tile.
  • A piece may only capture in a direction that is marked on said piece.
  • The capturing piece must have the same colour as the colour associated with that turn in the colour sequence, from top to bottom.

The module solves automatically when all pieces are set up in a valid configuration.
