On the Subject of Trying to Un-Ancient-Panoptesify Semabols

This module has eight symbols arranged in an octangular formation, around a 2×3 grid of pressable symbols. Each of the outer symbols may have an LED on some of its corners. Each LED will occur twice, forming four pairs of symbols that share an LED position.

The outer symbols, when located in the following grid, will determine a cross-section of three layers of a 3×3×3 cube. This cross-section will always be perpendicular to the layers, meaning three symbols from the top and bottom layers and two symbols from the middle layer will be shown. The middle-center symbol of this cross-section is not shown on the module. These three layers will be stacked on top of each other to form the cube, with the layer containing exactly two symbols on the module in the middle. The other two layers may be ordered in two ways, but only one will satisfy the next step.

Choose an order of layering the top and bottom layers of the cube, and look at the cube either from the front or the left of the cube, whichever direction makes all eight symbols on the module visible. Each of those eight symbols correspond to a cardinal direction from the center of the cross-section.

Each pair of symbols, converted to its corresponding cardinal directions, represent a Semaphore character, shown on the next page. This will result in four characters, one for each position of the LED, that being top-left, top-right, bottom-left, and bottom-right.

Using the ordering of layers chosen previously, assign letters to each symbol in the cube, layer-by-layer, from left to right, then top to bottom, ignoring the exact center of the cube. Find the four letters found previously, and locate their corresponding symbols in the cube on the module. All four symbols should be present on the module. If this is not the case, switch the top and bottom layers, re-determine each symbol’s cardinal direction, and re-determine each symbol’s corresponding character. Then, press the symbols corresponding to the characters in the order of LEDs: top-left, top-right, bottom-left, then bottom-right to solve the module.
