On the Subject of Six Degrees
Every star knows someone. On a bomb, even the credits are cut short.
Connect the starting actor to the target actor through real films and their selected cast. Reach the target in no more than six degrees.
| START | The actor at the beginning of the chain. | TARGET | The actor that solves the module. |
|---|---|---|---|
| CURRENT | The actor whose next film must be chosen. | DEGREES | Actor-to-actor transitions used, out of six. |
Building the chain
- On a FILM screen, select a film that contains the current actor.
- On the following CAST screen, select an actor who appears in that film.
- The selected actor becomes current and one degree is used.
- Repeat until the target actor is selected. The module solves immediately.
Sample Actor A — Sample Film — Sample Actor B = 1 degree
Important: Every screen contains four choices. One or more are real, safe connections; the others are decoys. A real displayed connection always leaves a route to the target within the remaining limit.
Controls and backtracking
- PREV / NEXT: Cycle through deterministic choice pages. This never changes the chain.
- BACK on CAST: Cancel the selected film without using a degree.
- BACK on FILM: Undo the previous complete actor–film–actor transition.
- RESET: Return to the same starting puzzle, seed, and choices. It does not reroll or strike.
Strikes and restrictions
A strike is recorded for selecting a film that does not contain the current actor, selecting an actor who is not in the selected film, repeating an actor or film, or attempting another transition after six degrees. Invalid choices leave the chain unchanged.
Actors and films already committed to the chain may not be used again. Backtracking removes them from the chain and makes them available again.
