On the Subject of Stroop’s Test

A “Stroop’s Test” module has a screen with a constant stream of randomly colored text. The text displays the names of six distinct colors. The color of the text does not necessarily match the text itself. Below the screen are two buttons labeled “YES” and “NO” in that order.

Correctly answer three questions regarding information given via the display to defuse the module. Be sure to note down the first colored word that was submitted correctly.

Questions can be found in the table below. The currently displayed slide and the digits in the serial number determine which yes-or-no question must be answered correctly.

The leftmost column shows the color associated with each question. To narrow down which question you’re using for the current slide, check the last digit of the serial number. If it’s even, use the text color of the current slide. Otherwise, use the word of the current slide.

Look up the currently used color in the table below. Each color has two questions associated with it. To determine which question to answer, check the first digit of the serial number. If it’s even, check the validity of the top question. Otherwise, check the validity of the bottom question.

If the question is true, press YES. If the question is false, press NO.

If the answer given is incorrect, the module will always strike. However, regardless if the answer is correct, the module will incur a strike if:

• The same question has been answered before.
• The submitted answer for the third question is the same as the second question.

Submit a correct answer to three different questions. Every time you submit a correct answer, there will be a 2 second pause. This provides you enough time to note down what the word and color of the correct slide is.

Once three questions have been answered correctly, the module is solved.

Red	Does the first submitted word match the current slide’s word?
	Does the text color on the previous slide match the current slide’s word?
Yellow	Are both the current slide’s word and the current slide’s text color not Magenta nor White?
	Does the first submitted word’s text color match the current slide’s text color?
Green	Does the color on the previous slide match the current slide’s text color?
	Are both the current slide’s word and the current slide’s text color not Red nor Blue?
Blue	Does the word on the previous slide match the current slide’s text color?
	Are both the current slide’s word and the current slide’s text color not Green nor Yellow?
Magenta	Does the first submitted word’s text color match the current slide’s word?
	Does the word on the previous slide match the current slide’s word?
White	Are the words and text colors of the current and previous slide four distinct colors?
	Does the first submitted word match the current slide’s text color?

Note: Highlighting the NO button without pressing it for more than 4 seconds (beyond stage 1) will reset the module back to stage 1.
