On the Subject of Triple Term

Time to bust out the dictionary.

Note: If only one term from the “Password” manual can be formed with the given letters, you’re looking at the wrong manual.

A “Triple Term” module has five display screens that display letters. Each screen can cycle through six letters when pressing adjacent up and down arrow buttons. Below all the screens is a “SUBMIT” button.

Enter a three-digit code in the submission stage to disarm the module.

Using the letters available, find one term from the leftmost column of the table below and another from the topmost row.

The three-digit code to use in the second step is the intersection of the row and column that the two terms designate.

If present, leave in any leading zeros.

There is a third term that can also be formed from the leftmost column of the second table below. Take the code received from the first step. Then, perform an operation on each digit of the three-digit code that’s both on the same row as the third term and the column that applies to the last digit of the serial number (abbreviated to “L# of SN”).

If the operation causes you to go over 9 for any digit, remove the tens place.

Example: [581] → Add 7 to each digit → 5+7=12, 8+7=15, 1+7=8 → [258]

Press the “SUBMIT” button to begin the submission stage, the cycles of letters on the module will be swapped out for cycles of numbers. If a mistake was made, the “SUBMIT” button may be held for three seconds to hard reset the module.

There will only be one section of three adjacent columns that have the resulting three numbers in that order. Set those three columns to the three-digit code then press the “SUBMIT” button again to solve the module. (What the other columns are set to doesn’t matter.)

If the correct three-digit code is not present in any set of the submitted columns, the module will strike and send you back to the same cycles of letters.
