On the Subject of Varicolored Cube

A Q&A, but the questions are... really dumb...

See Appendix CLC-DLC for identifying Colored Cube variants.

This module contains a Colored Cube, which can be either (R)ed, (G)reen, (B)lue, (Y)ellow, (M)agenta, (C)yan, (W)hite or Blac(K). Exactly one pair of opposite faces is selectable (i.e. either the left and right faces are selectable, or the back and front).

In this module, you will be answering questions about a certain subject, which can be a number, a letter, a color or a direction. Use the color of the cube and the number in the top left corner of the cube’s top face in the table below to obtain that subject (colors have thicker borders in the table compared to letters and other cells; directions are represented by arrows).

R G B Y M C W K
1 B M 9 W
2 N 5 16 Z W K 2
3 15 4 10 R I X
4 8 V F 14 P R C
5 Y A 6 G M
6 L Q 1 K B 3
7 12 Y U C D 13
8 B G K S G 11 7

Once you find your subject, press either of the selectable faces. The left/right faces pair will now be the selectable pair of faces.

Using the new color of the cube and the number in the top left corner of the cube’s top face, obtain a question about the subject using the tables on the next page. If the question correctly asks about the determined subject, press the left face to accept the question. Otherwise, press the right face to reject the question and get a new one.

A question is considered to correctly ask about your subject if:

  1. The first half of the question (obtained using the cube’s color) directly mentions the type of your subject (number, letter, color, or direction).
  2. The second half of the question (obtained using the number) asks about a property that can be directly applied to your subject.
    • To make this more obvious, second halves that refer to numbers’, letters’, colors’, and directions’ properties are colored Dark Red, Dark Green, Dark Blue, and Dark Yellow respectively.
Cube’s color Black Cyan Red Magenta Green Yellow Blue White
First half Is your number... Is your letter... Is your color... Is your direction...
# Second half
1 ...positioned before N in the alphabet?
2 ...’s alphabetic position a multiple of 6?
3 ...a primary color (Red, Green, or Blue)?
4 ...a multiple of 7?
5 ...pointing upwards (diagonals included)?
6 ...’s last digit present in the serial number?
7 ...pointing in a diagonal direction?
8 ...a prime number?
9 ...’s first letter of its name present in the serial number?
10 ...positioned after P in the alphabet?
11 ...the current color of the cube?
12 ...pointing in a cardinal direction (Up, Right, Down, or Left)?

After accepting a question, the back/front faces pair will now be the selectable pair of faces. Correctly answer the asked question “Yes” (by pressing the Back face) or “No” (by pressing the Front face) to proceed, getting a new question and making the left/right faces pair selectable again.

After correctly answering a total of five questions, the module will solve.

If you answer a question incorrectly, the module will strike, and the cube will reset to its initial state of displaying the module’s subject (the subject itself and the total number of correctly answered questions will not reset).
