The gasification behavior of carbon composite iron ore produced by hot briquetting process was examined under various gas atmospheres such as CO-N _{2}, CO_{2}-N_{2} and CO-CO_{2} at various temperatures. The gasification of coal was affected strongly by atmospheric gas concentration and reaction temperature. Kinetic analysis in various gas atmospheres was carried out by using the first order reaction model, which yields the straight line relation between reaction rate constants for the gasification of coal and the gas concentration. Therefore, reaction rate constants for the gasification of coal in CO-CO_{2}-N_{2} gas atmosphere were written as follows; k_{c1}=a×k_{c1}(CO) +b×k_{c1}(CO_{2})+c×k_{c1}(N_{2}) k_{c2}=a×k_{c2}(CO)+b×k_{c2}(CO _{2})+c×k_{c2}(N_{2}) a=C_{CO}/(C _{CO}+C_{CO2}+C_{N2}), b=C_{CO2}/(C _{CO}+C_{CO2}+C_{N2}), c=C_{N2}/(C _{CO}+C_{CO2}+C_{N2}) where, k_{C1} and k _{C2} are the gasification rate constant of the first half(1/s) and the latter half(1/s) respectively, k_{C1}(CO), k_{C1}(CO _{2}) and k_{C1}(N_{2}) are k_{C1} in 100% CO gas atmosphere (1/s), 100% CO_{2} gas atmosphere (1/s) and 100% N _{2} gas atmosphere (1/s) respectively, k_{C2}(CO), k _{C2}(CO_{2}) and k_{C2}(N_{2}) are k _{C2} in 100% CO gas atmosphere (1/s), 100% CO_{2} gas atmosphere (1/s) and 100% N_{2} gas atmosphere (1/s) respectively, C_{CO}, C_{CO2} and C_{N2} are the concentration of CO gas (vol%), CO_{2} gas (vol%) and N_{2} gas (vol%) respectively.
