The campfire’s location is at the first character of the serial number.
The current position is the submitted position from the previous stage, or the second character of the serial number for stage 1.
Determine the transmitted character’s offset from the campfire. Apply the same offset to the current position to get the goal position for this stage.
The grid wraps around.

Input the goal position’s character in morse code on the target log for the current stage.
While the fire is white, the pressed log is transmitting the inputted character back.
